Twelve questions to ask any EUDR software vendor
Most demos look identical. These questions separate products built for the regulation from dashboards built for the procurement cycle.

Every EUDR demo shows a green dashboard and a map. The differences that matter sit underneath, and they surface quickly if you ask the right things. Take this list into the meeting.

When Annex I changes, what do I do?
You want "you load a new ruleset". If the answer involves a release, a support ticket or a professional services day, factor that into the price and the timeline.

Show me a scope decision from three months ago
It should still say which rule and which version of the rules produced it. If the record only shows today’s answer, you cannot evidence the decision to an auditor.

What does my supplier see?
Ask them to open the supplier view on a phone. If it needs an account or a password reset, your response rate will tell you about it later.

What happens when a supplier uploads a broken file?
The good answer keeps the file, explains the problem in the supplier’s language, and lets them correct it. The bad answer is a red error and a lost afternoon.

Does validation claim anything about deforestation?
It should not. A vendor willing to imply that a structurally valid polygon means compliant land is a vendor whose other claims need checking.

How does the EU integration handle a specification change?
The Commission updates its technical specification. Ask which single module changes when it does.

Is there a separate acceptance environment?
The Commission runs acceptance and production separately for a reason. Ask how the product stops test data reaching the live system.

How is my data separated from other customers?
Row level separation enforced in the database beats separation enforced in application code, because the second fails silently when someone writes a query wrong.

Can I see the audit trail for a status change?
Pick a purchase order on screen and ask who last changed it, from what, to what, and when.

What happens to a reminder if the supplier already replied?
It should stop. Chasing someone for something they sent is how you lose a supplier relationship over a compliance task.

What does the system do that I still have to do myself?
A vendor who cannot answer this quickly has not thought about it, or does not want to.

Who carries the compliance responsibility?
The operator does. Any answer that blurs this is worth writing down word for word.
